Childhood and Youth

Robert Zimmerman was born May 24, 1941 in the town Dulut (Minnesota), in a family of small-scale trader. Parents musician is actively involved in the life of the local Jewish community. His ancestors came to America from Eastern Europe and the Black Sea coast of Turkey (in Odessa).

In 1947, Robert's father became ill polio, and the family moved to a nearby town Hibbing. As a child, Robert heard a lot of musical transmission c blues records. Particularly impressed with his folk-music of Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie (whom he was caring for at the hospital at the time of his fatal illness). He is mastering the basics guitar, his favorite instrument becomes labial accordion. At the age of ten years he wrote the first verse.

Studying in high school, Bob was in various bands; perform folk music in the cafes and bars. Music lessons, he continued, and after admission to the University of Minneapolis (1959). During his career he has used several aliases. But his main nickname, under which the whole world knows, was Bob Dylan, where according to some reports, by the Dilanom for some time rebutted surname is the name of a beloved Dylan Thomas.
